Electronic Disposal

Process


The Solid Waste Management District of St. Joseph County collects obsolete electronics at the District Household Hazardous Waste (HHW).

Residents can deliver electronics anytime during business hours. Electronics from businesses or institutions will be accepted only through prior arrangement with the District.

All electronics are accepted free of charge.

Large Items


The following types of large items are accepted:
  • Arcade size video games
  • Camcorders
  • Desk top PCs and accessories
  • Fax machines
  • Pinball machines
  • Power tools
  • Scales (electronic)
  • Scanners
  • Sewing machines
  • Speakers
  • TVs
  • Typewriters/word processors
  • Video game councils (examples: vcr/laser disc players, Nintendo, Sony Play Station, Microsoft Xbox)

Small Items


The following small items are accepted:
  • Adding machines
  • Ballasts
  • Calculators
  • Cameras (film and digital)
  • Game Boys
  • Joy sticks/game controls
  • Palm organizers
  • Portable CD players
  • Postage machines
  • Radios
  • Telephones answering machines
  • Uninterrupted power supply
